Women in IT Community

The OSU Women in IT Community (WIT) serves OSU IT professionals and student employees who identify as women. WIT was formally established in 2023 as part of a broader IT Workforce Development Plan, and reinforces OSU IT's commitment to and belief in the strength and value of diversity, equity, inclusion, and access.

WIT Goals

  • Advance inclusive excellence by leveraging the wealth of experience offered by women in IT

  • Bring diverse leadership skills and perspectives

  • Address the historic lack of opportunity for women in IT

History: Breaking Barriers for Women in IT

In the spring of 2022, Chief Information Officer Andrea Ballinger nominated six women from OSU to attend a five-week EDUCAUSE series called Women Advance Technology. Throughout the series, the cohort had a chance to reflect on the challenges, obstacles and opportunities they had encountered in their careers. As they continued to meet, they saw an opportunity to create a community of support and provide more resources for women working in IT roles at OSU.
